Dr. Thomas Turek
Dr. Thomas Turek, a native of Metuchen, N.J., majored in physiology at Rutgers University, and attended New York Chiropractic College in Greenvale, N.Y., where he completed his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1979. Upon graduation, his love of the outdoors and desire for "small town" living brought him to St. Johnsbury, Vermont, where he opened North Country Chiropractic Center in 1980.
After practicing for eight years, an ongoing interest in sports medicine and neuromusculoskeletal injuries led him to pursue a post-doctoral course in chiropractic orthopedics through the National College of Chiropractic, culminating in his achieving Diplomate Status in the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists in 1992. His treatment of sports and orthopedic problems includes a diversity of methods, including intersegmental traction, Graston myofascial release, and rehabilitative exercise.
Active in both state and national chiropractic organizations since 1980, he has served as President of the Vermont Chiropractic Association (1985-1987), Vermont Delegate to the American Chiropractic Association (1985-1990), and has three times received the distinction "Chiropractor of the Year" by the Vermont Chiropractic Association. Dr. Turek participates in many local civic activities, and has served as a Trustee for the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce since 2007. He enjoys time with his wife and 2 daughters, snow and water skiing, bicycling, and coaching youth lacrosse.
Dr. Travis Howard
Dr. Travis Howard recently moved to the area from the mid west to live closer to his family. He is a native of Rantoul, Illinois, received his Bachelors of Science from Illinois State University, and attended Logan College of Chiropractic located near St. Louis, Missouri. Since his graduation in 2006, he has owned a chiropractic practice in Terre Haute, Indiana.
While in Indiana, Dr. Howard saw patients of all ages and a wide variety of conditions. He enjoyed the opportunity to treat college athletes from three local colleges during his time there. His clinic was also very involved in the local community, donating food, clothing, toys and money to local charities. He was chosen by the public as the Terre Haute Tribune Star's 'Chiropractor of the Year' in 2012
Prior to becoming a chiropractor, Dr. Howard served in the Air Force where he attended medical technical school at Shepard Air Force base in Texas. As a medic stationed at RAF Lakenheath, UK, he trained in pediatric advanced life support, advanced cardiac life support and became an American Heart Association CPR instructor trainer.
Dr. Howard and his wife, Tiffany, have three sons and are very excited to become a part of and serve the people of the North Country for many years to come. In his free time, he enjoys time with his family, volleyball, skiing and coaching his son's t-ball team.
Tamara Peters, Massage Therapist
Tamara Peters, CMT, completed her studies at the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts in June 2012. Tamara has worked as a clinical assistant at North Country Chiropractic Center since 2010 and we are thrilled to have her continue with us as a massage therapist. She has had training in Swedish massage, clinical deep tissue work, neuromuscular technique and lymphatic drainage. Tamara lives in Sheffield, VT and enjoys songwriting and family time.
